Seven days aboard a luxury cruise.
The perfect getaway from it all.
At least, that’s what Georgia Cantwell is hoping for…

With her inbox filling with menacing emails, Georgia just wants to run away from her shattered life on her sorority’s winter break cruise. What she doesn’t need is green-eyed Jace McLaren seeing through her tacked-on smile and stealing her breath away with each tantalizing kiss.

Growing up with a father in jail, Jace knows from experience that if you’re going through hell, there’s no way out but through. He has always steered away from girls like Georgia with her ice-queen attitude, but she’s in real trouble, and despite himself he pushes past her walls.

As much as Georgia tries to ignore it, Jace won’t let her pretend with him. But she can’t tell him the truth. Her past would ruin his trust, her family, her future—everything.

But out on the open ocean, there’s nowhere to hide. And when Georgia’s secrets come tumbling out, it might take more than Jace to get her through the storm.

I was generously given an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review of her work.

To start this off I can summarize this book with one simple word… LOVE!

What about steamy… sexy…swoonworthy?

For a debut novel Val Chase has seriously blown this one out of the water. Honestly. I fell in love within minutes of reading the book and actually read in in just one sitting (that’s how amazing it is! I just couldn’t put it down)

Georgia and Jace end up roommates simply by luck of the draw (she needed a way out of rooming with her ex) and on the outside they may go to the same college, but looked like the belonged to 2 completely different worlds. From an outsiders perspective- she was seen as a goody-two-shoes who thought she was better than everyone and spent her life being a spoiled rich girl, and he was seen as the man whore who slept with anything and everything and lived in a trailer park, with nothing to his name.

But in reality they were both two great people, who, yes, may have have rocky pasts that they decide to keep to themselves, but they are carrying a lot of burdens on their shoulders for such a young age.

So the fact that these two came together was a really great match up, and once they opened up to the possibility of each other magic was made!

I seriously, connected with Georgia and her story instantly, not because she was like me but because her emotions were so real and she was such a likeable character. Who wouldn’t freak out about being on a cruise with the boy whom you thought you were going to marry, who just recently broke up with you!

What I also loved was that this story was absolutely believable. Now, I love a great angsty new adult romance with all kinds of shady pasts- but sometimes these situations only seem possible in fiction and some authors get a little too carried away and all I start to think is -“yeah right, like that would ever have happened”. But in Full Steam, it was absolutely believable. She didn’t try and pull for a crazy unrealistic secret. I commend you Val!

This novel seriously has all the great workings of an amazing new adult novel and if you are looking for a new book to add to your shelf I HIGHLY recommend Full Steam Ahead. A quick read that actually ends when you reach the last page.

Seeing that Full Steam Ahead is the first book in the Sea Swept Series, I know I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for the rest to read more! The next book is going to be about Yasmin (who I just love – shes an awesome best friend! Reminds me of my own Best friend growing up) who has her own issues that were slightly touched upon, so I am interested in reading more about her. Although I hope there is another edition of Jace & Georgia cause I just love them!

I am absolutely going to be following this author and she is definitely someone to be on the lookout for and to add to your must read list!
